The Torah
"The Torah" is the central reference of the religious Judaic tradition. It has a range of meanings. It can most specifically mean the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, traditionally believed to have been written by Moses. These books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The term "Torah" can also be used to refer to the entire Jewish bible (which includes the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings) or in its broadest sense, to the whole body of Jewish law and teachings. The word "Torah" itself means "instruction" or "teaching" in Hebrew.
