Wednesday – (Odin/Woden) or Dies Mercurii (Latin for “day of Mercury”)
"Wednesday" is the day of the week that comes after Tuesday and before Thursday. The term "Wednesday" has its roots in Old English and is named after the Germanic god Woden, also known as Odin in Norse mythology. Woden/Odin was a major god in Germanic paganism, and his name translates roughly to "day of Woden." In many languages, including English, the name for the third day of the week has been influenced by the Latin phrase "dies Mercurii," meaning "day of Mercury," as Woden/Odin was considered the equivalent to the Roman god Mercury.
