Lien (Liens)
A lien is a legal claim or right against a property or asset that allows the lien holder to obtain access to the property if the owner fails to fulfill his or her legal obligations, usually related to debts or loans. This means that if the owner cannot repay the debt, the lien holder can sell the property or asset to recover the money owed. Liens can be placed on a property by creditors, tax authorities, or by court judgments.
